It is impossible for us to divide ourselves and become separate people, but we can create an illusion of separation and believe it is true. A convincing magic trick where we fool ourselves, every time we come into human form.Â

We forget who we truly are. Our boundless, eternal selves - now squashed into a finite vessel. We are told we are a separate person and are explained who we are and where we fit into society. The self-reflective function of the mind that activates at around 18 months of age gives us a sense of locality inside the human body, a landing place. We have no reason to doubt what we are being told, and so we grow up, going through the motions of the character, adding layers to our false identity. We find happiness where we can, endure the mundane, and we suffer, sometimes a lot. We try to find peace, happiness and fulfilment through worldly endeavours, but it is always fleeting.

Most of the characters of humanity stay lost in this trance, in the illusion of separation. Perhaps intuiting there is something more, but never uncovering the Truth.Â
Â
Others get a glimpse - or even a deep dive - back into themselves, instantly remembering the bizarre truth of the masterful charade. Only to succumb to the trance once again, perhaps yo-yo-ing back and forth across the gateless gate.Â

Eventually, a time comes when the trance of the separation loses all momentum. The power of our formless, vast core dissolves the once sticky hypnosis, and we are no longer able to believe in what once seemed so real. We laugh at how we fooled ourselves (yet again) and see our true face in everything around us.
