of cancellations
Join Shar Jason at the Vajra Vidya Retreat Center for a week of silence, meditation, and inquiry. Whether you are navigating initial openings or looking to stabilize your realization, this week offers the space and structure needed to deepen your awakening process and integrate lasting shifts.
This retreat offers a rare sanctuary to set down the noise and responsibility of daily life. By removing the distractions, you create the necessary space for profound shifts and for awakening to deepen.
With a gathering limited to 20 guests, you will feel supported through the challenges that naturally arise during a silent retreat. Our time is dedicated to journeying inward, moving beyond old conditioning to encounter what is true directly. To give you the best opportunity for progress, we remain in silence, save for two daily sessions with Shar. On our final day together, we will break the silence to share and integrate your experience, ensuring you return home feeling grounded.
Please note: silent retreats can be powerful but challenging. If you have not attended a silent retreat before, please email Shar first before booking - contactsharjason@gmail.com.
What will the group sessions include?
Shar will guide meditations designed to help you settle deeply into your being. These sessions are a space for teachings, self-inquiry, and contemplation - all gently supporting the deconstruction of the illusory self and a natural sinking into your essential nature.
You will have the opportunity to ask Shar a question each day to explore any challenges arising during your retreat.

Crestone is a powerful and beautiful landscape, but its high-altitude environment requires preparation. Please review the following information to ensure this retreat is the right fit for your current physical and mental well-being.
1. High Altitude & Elevation (8,200 ft+)
Vajra Vidya is located at approximately 8,200 feet above sea level.
Physical Impact: At this elevation, the air is thinner and oxygen levels are lower. You may experience shortness of breath, mild headaches, or fatigue during the first 24–48 hours. Consider spending a night in Denver before driving to Crestone, if you are coming from a low-elevation location.
Hydration: It is essential to drink double the amount of water you normally would, and consider electrolytes. Start hydrating two days before the retreat.
Action Required: If you have a history of severe altitude sickness, respiratory issues, or heart conditions, please consult your doctor before registering.
2. August Weather & Sun Safety
Summer in the Colorado Rockies brings intense sun and rapid weather changes.
The Sun: At high altitudes, the atmosphere is thinner, making the sun much stronger. Sun protection and hats are highly recommended.
Temperature Swings: August days are typically warm and dry (75°F–85°F), but temperatures can drop significantly at night (around freezing). Layers are essential.
3. Local Wildlife
Crestone is a wilderness-adjacent area. It is common to see deer, elk, and various birds. However, the area is also home to black bears and mountain lions.
Safety: Participants should stay on marked paths and never keep food in their cars or outside their rooms. We will provide a brief safety orientation upon arrival.
4. Mental Health & Suitability
Silent retreats can be rewarding, but they are also psychologically intense.
Who this is NOT suitable for: This retreat is not a substitute for psychiatric treatment or crisis intervention. It is not suitable for individuals currently experiencing:
Severe clinical depression.
Psychosis or untreated schizophrenia.
Active substance addiction or withdrawal.
A condition that stops you from being able to sit still for extended periods of time, such as a highly dysregulated nervous system.
Self-Responsibility: By registering, you acknowledge that you are in a stable mental state and take full responsibility for your psychological well-being during the retreat. You need to be able to regulate your emotional state on your own, as there is no access to a therapist.
Payment: Full payment of USD$950 is required
